Transportation Safety for Pets

Hi, my name is Julie, and here by my side is my faithful companion Frieda, my therapy dog. I love to travel and have spent a lot of time travelling, but unfortunately, a few years ago, my anxiety increased in a way that made it hard to travel. As a result, I got a therapy dog. Frieda has been a literal lifesaver for me, but I have had to learn how to travel with her. In particular, I have had to learn how to help her have a safe experience on different modes of transportation. This blog is devoted to that concept. Whether you are travelling with a working companion or a pet in a pet carrier, this blog has tips on making that experience safe.

Considerations When Buying A Motorhome

by Noelle Frazier

Motorhomes are the ultimate machine for camping and road trip enthusiasts. A motorhome comes with all amenities you need for a long trip, including sleeping and dining quarters. So what considerations should you make when buying a motorhome? Below are some tips.

Type of Motorhome

There are different types of motorhomes. For instance, a class A motorhome is the highest quality and most luxurious motorhome you will find on the market. These motorhomes are typically large and come with expansive lounges, state-of-the-art kitchens, several bedrooms and high-quality appliances. Coach-built motorhomes are mounted on conventional vans. They are often smaller than Class A motorhomes and accommodate fewer people. Overcab motorhomes have a distinguishing feature: the sleeping quarters are above the driver's cabin. This leaves adequate space for a lounge, kitchen and washroom.

Layout

You will find different motorhome layouts. The secret to choosing a layout is examining its functionality. For example, if you will travel with your kids and spouse, you may want a motorhome that offers some privacy in the sleeping areas. Examine the distance between the lounge and kitchen. These areas should be close to each other without any obstacles in-between. It ensures you have an easy time preparing and serving meals on the motorhome.

Is the motorhome spacious? Designers come with inventive ways to make the motorhome more spacious. For instance, the lounge can be converted into a sleeping area in some cases. The arrangement makes the motorhome look bigger than it actually is. This way, you can host as many friends as you want. Examine the availability of storage spaces inside the motorhome. The rule is to consider motorhomes with adequate storage space to avoid clutter as you drive them.

Vehicle Features

What are the features of the vehicle carrying the motorhome? The amenities on the motorhome make it heavier than the standard truck. As such, you should always consider motorhomes with a large engine capacity. Given that you will likely drive for long distances, your preferred motorhome should have a large fuel tank and excellent fuel consumption. If you intend to visit off-road camping sites, go for motorhomes with 4WD abilities and sufficient ground clearance.

You will also have to evaluate your budget when purchasing the motorhome. Typically, you might opt for a used motorhome if you have inadequate funds. However, conduct some due diligence to establish that the motorhome is in excellent condition. Look out for damaged plumbing, gas leaks and damaged furniture. Besides, ask a mechanic to assess the vehicle's engine and transmission systems.

Keep these tips in mind when looking for motorhomes near you.
